Administration
Our administration is responsible for strategic and capital planning, finance and accounting, customer service, real estate and contracts, care hire, freight rates, risk management and business development. Most of these activities are located at our corporate headquarters in Dillwyn, VA.
Human Resources
The Buckingham Branch Human Resource Department coordinates all aspects relating to BB personnel resources and EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) functions.
Information Technology
Information Technology at the Buckingham Branch Railroad involves a wide range of disciplines, focusing on keeping up with industry changes that are critical to maintaining both high and safe levels of performance.
Rail Traffic Control
Our Rail Traffic Control Center is the heartbeat of the Buckingham Branch RR, making sure that more than 150,000 railcars operate safely on our tracks an annual basis.
Transportation
The transportation department is responsible for train operations and consists of the Superintendent of Operations, Transportation Manager and Transportation Specialists.
Locomotive Maintenance
The locomotive maintenance team perform a variety of services such as preventative maintenance, service inspections, engine overhaul, traction motor replacements, electrical upgrades and diagnostics, and locomotive painting.
Signals
The Buckingham Branch signal department has responsibility for ensuring the safe and effective operation of the communication system that controls the shared use of BB tracks by BB trains, CSXT trains and Amtrak trains, as well as the safe interaction of pedestrians and non-railroad vehicles crossing BB tracks.
Track and Structures - the "Road" for Trains
The BBRR Track and Structures department oversees a wide array of construction intended to support the track itself or house railway operations.
Mechanical
The mechanical shop maintains more than 50 trucks and high rails and an array of heavy mechanical equipment.
